Sometimes the right person lives in another country.
It starts like any other hire, with the role and the start date. After that, they need a contract that works under their local law, a salary in their own currency and someone keeping up with tax and leave rules there.
Doing all of it yourself can mean registering as an employer in their country, or even setting up a company there, which is a lot of paperwork for one new team member.
Now you can hire and pay people abroad with Ampere People, and leave the contracts, international payroll and payments to Ampere.

It works for a very first hire abroad, and it’s just as handy once you’re paying a few contractors around the world and the invoices start piling up.
You get three ways to hire, depending on who the person is and how you want to work together.
Employer of Record (EOR)
If you want someone as an employee in their own country, they get a local employment contract through Ampere People. It’s an employer of record you can use without opening a company abroad.
Their payroll, employment taxes and the leave they get by law become Ampere’s job, while their day-to-day work stays with you.
If someone already works for you abroad, Ampere can look at their country and current contract and explain what moving them to EOR would involve.
Contractor of Record (COR)
COR covers contractors in 150+ countries. You choose the contractor and manage the work, and Ampere takes care of their contract, the checks and their payments.
Ampere also helps make sure the working arrangement is set up properly in the contractor’s country. Local rules decide who counts as a contractor and who counts as an employee, and those rules differ from country to country.
Contractor Management
For freelancers and contractors you hire yourself, Ampere keeps their contracts, invoices and contractor payments together, which makes month-end a lot calmer.
You can bring a contractor you already work with, and Ampere will look at where they’re based and how you work together now before suggesting which option fits better.
The main difference is who the contractor signs with. With COR they sign through Ampere, checks included, and with Contractor Management they sign with you.
You can also use all three side by side. A team with a couple of employees abroad and a few freelancers in other countries can keep everyone in one place.
What you pay depends on the country, the person and the service, and you see the breakdown before you decide. Current prices:
- Employer of Record: from €299 per employee per month
- Contractor of Record: from €105 per contractor per month
- Contractor Management: €29 per contractor per month
Ampere People works with the account you already have, at 1.5% FX on payroll and contractor payments. Pay through an approved Ampere business account and FX starts from 0.55%, with everything on one clear invoice.
Getting started takes three steps. You add who you’re hiring and where they live, choose how to hire them, and Ampere handles the contract, onboarding and payments from there.

If you’re still planning, a short form asks where you want to hire, which service you need and your target start date. Ampere comes back with a suggested way to hire, what it will cost, what’s needed to get started and how long it should take.
The Ampere salary calculator can also give you a rough idea of what a hire might cost, from take-home pay to total employer cost, in 33 European countries, the UK included.
Finding the right person took the interviews, the calls and probably a time-zone mix-up or two. The contracts and payroll that come next can now go to Ampere People.
